Day 58 Xunqueira de Ambia - Ourense

It was very weird spending the night in the Albergue totally on our own.  At least we did not wake anyone up when we got up this morning!

We were quite tired after our 21 mile trek yesterday but set off in good spirits for Ourense.  The weather was overcast and quite cold with a stiff wind blowing.

Initially the path went cross-country criss-crossing the local road in many places and finally going over a railway line, where Ana Maria insisted I pose for a photo.  I'm convinced she is trying to get rid of me! Well, who could blame her?

The rest of the way was mainly on minor roads which were very narrow, with no hard shoulder and lots of traffic.  It was quite dicy at times, particularly when huge lorries came trundling by!  The road went through countless villages at times almost merging into each other and we sensed we were nearing Ourense.

This became more obvious when the path went through a trading estate with factories belching out pollution!

What a difference to the last few days where we have been enjoying nature at its best.

The entry into Ourense was long and tedious as we made our way to our Albergue on the edges of the old quarter of the city.
